In the spirit of Fridays and fun I would like to share a few of my favorite things. Well, favorite as of this week!
-The Ocean: Sure mountains are beautiful and majestic but there is nothing like the sights and sounds of being by the ocean for me. I am constantly looking for ways to get there on a my budget (which is zero dollars). So far, I haven’t had much luck, but if you know anyone who wants to allow someone to use beach front property for a few days, hook a sista up!
-Shauna Niequist: Her newest book, Bread & Wine, kept popping up all over blogs I read. I think the Kindle version must have been on sale one day a few months ago because I got it. Then, in June, I was on a 5 hour flight from Atlanta to San Francisco and consumed the whole book during the flight. I started reading her blog and then bought her older book, Bittersweet, and am currently forcefully pacing myself through that one. I don’t want to put it down, but know I’ll be really sad when it’s done, so I limit my intake. (I really wish I could be so self-disciplined when it comes to my intake of food) Reading Shauna’s writing is like reading what’s inside my own head but communicated more clearly. You should read her blog and all her books.
-Caveman App: Since I finished my second, more successful Whole 30, I have started trying to eat on the Paleo diet more. I ran across this app on Facebook during a brief period when it was just .99. The recipes are simple and the app is great to use. This is where I found a new favorite recipe (below). Even if you don’t eat Paleo you could find some great new dishes here!
-BBQ Bacon Wrapped Asparagus: Found this on the Caveman app and gave it a shot. It’s crazy easy to make and is SO ridiculously delicious! I liked it so much I made it twice in one week. I’m not even lying.
-Paleo English Muffins: I love a good breakfast biscuit- alone, with honey or jam or made into a bacon/egg sandwich. The problem is the gluten content does not like me. Since trying to go Paleo I’ve had the hardest time with a breakfast menu. After a quick google search I found this recipe for Paleo english muffins that is perfect for making one at a time for breakfast. They are really delicious and I think I like them more than the traditional ones.
–Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) by Hillsong United: It wouldn’t be a favorites list if I didn’t include a song. Periodically I run across a song that I just want to play on repeat– this is that song presently. I’m listening to it as I type right now, as a matter of fact!
These are just a few of the things I’m diggin’ right now. What are your current favorite things?
