For all of my life my LEAST favorite chore was cleaning the shower. I actually enjoy cleaning the bathroom and don’t even mind the toilets. You can ask my mom– when she would ask me to clean the bathroom I would always beg to avoid the shower. I think I hate it so much because all the water runs down my ars when I try to clean the side walls. I’m not really sure I just hate it.
When I moved to South Carolina I entered the land of hard water. I’m quite embarrassed to say that it took me almost a year of living hear to know that’s why my shower turned orange really quickly in all the places where water stood. I found myself needing to do my least favorite chore all the time. Stupid hard water.
The pin simply says to put a mixture of Dawn dish detergent and vinegar in a dishwashing wand and keep it in the shower. The point is to wipe the shower down while you are in the shower and keep it clean as you use it.
This idea is so simple I am mortified to not be the one who created it. I already had the cleaning picture in a spray bottle under my sink (I’m trying to make the green cleaning switch). So I bought a dish wand and tried it out for a little while in my shower. It’s brilliant! I just wipe different sections down once or twice a week and no more orange shower! The mixture is completely safe to use so you don’t need to worry about being in the shower when you clean.
The one thing I learned is that Dollar Tree dish wands are not good. I decided to make one for my guest shower too and bought one from there. There was a whole in the wand so I had to throw the whole thing away. It’s worth the extra $2 to buy one at a department store.
This pin changed how I clean my bathrooms and it’s so simple I really wish I thought of it!
